After ‘Twilight’ I wanted to read another book as soon as possible and my niece told me about ‘Fifty Shades of Gray’. She didn’t tell me much about it but told me it was a must read that I would love it. O- My- Gosh I didn’t know that something you read could have you blush so bad but that is what this book did to me. I didn’t know that it was a thing that people read about the physical part of a relationship in such fine detail, but I could not put the book down to save my life.
I will be completely honest the first time I read this series I was a little uncomfortable because of some of the more risky subject matter . After saying that I fell in love with Anna’s and Christin’s relationship, when I read the book a visualized Anna as being a sweet, kind, giving person, who is afraid of her own shadow. Christin is a man of mystery and of course hot (all the main guys in books are hot its my imagination), and can be cruel.
Through the book I became to understand their characters for who they were meant to be. You see Anna poled herself out of her comfort zone, and you see Christin become venerable. I ended up respected Christin because he was keeping people at a distance to protect himself. Although I don’t use any of his tactics and I can’t even compare my life to his tragic beginning; I can say I do relate to his emotional need for distance. I think with books that everything is up for interruption.
When I found out that they were going to make the books into a movie I can’t tell you how excited I was. I was so ready to see my imagination being put in real life. I had an image of all the actors I would pick, I even reread the books again just so everything would be fresh in my mind by opening night. Leading up to opening night of the movie there was a lot of posts about watching regarding the sex scenes and when I went to the theater opening night I heard a few people talking about that as well.
I can’t say was was surprised by what people were saying but I was shocked that I interrupted the book as the physical was just the filler while the building relationship was the plot. It could also be that the physical did make me feel uncomfortable in the beginning so I latch on more to the emotional growth between the two characters. That is why I love reading because I can read a book and latch onto the things I find important with a movie you just kind of have to take it as is.
